samue.lk is the personal site of Samuel K. Norton: essays, notes, a bookshelf, a now page, and information about consulting work. There are no accounts, no logins, no comments, no paid content and no subscriptions. Everything here is free to read. By using the site you agree to these terms.
2. Ownership and quoting
The writing, images and code on this site are mine, © Samuel K. Norton, unless credited otherwise. All rights reserved.
You are welcome to quote a reasonable extract with attribution and a link back to the original page — that is what the writing is for. You may not republish a whole piece, sell it, or present it as your own work without asking first.
3. Crawling and AI
Crawling this site to index it for search, or to cite and summarise it in an AI assistant's answer, is permitted and welcome. A citation with a link back is the only condition.
Using this site's content as training or fine-tuning data for machine learning models is not permitted. This
mirrors the ai-train=no signal published in
robots.txt, and applies whether or
not your crawler reads that file.
Automated access that degrades the site for other people — aggressive scraping, hammering the API, ignoring rate limits — is not permitted either.
4. Enquiries and consulting work
The form on the services page is an enquiry, not a contract. Nothing on that page is a binding quote or an offer, and sending an enquiry does not oblige either of us to anything.
If we go on to work together, that engagement is governed by a separate written agreement covering scope, price, timing, intellectual property and liability. These terms cover the website only.
5. The writing is not advice
The essays here are personal opinion and reflection, written from my own experience. They are not engineering, medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for a professional who knows your situation. Act on them at your own discretion.
6. Links and embedded content
The site links to other people's sites and embeds the occasional video. I do not control that content and am not responsible for it. A link is not an endorsement.
7. Availability and changes
This is a personal site run at my own expense. I make no promise that it will be available, that a page will stay at the same address, or that anything published will stay published. I may change, move or remove content at any time, and I may change these terms — the date at the top says when they last changed.
8. Liability
The site and its content are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from anything you do on the strength of what you read here.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot legally be excluded, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and equivalent protections where you live.
9. Privacy
What the site collects and what happens to it is set out in the Privacy Policy. Short version: no analytics, no cookies, no accounts.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts there have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you use the site from somewhere else, mandatory protections under your own local law still apply to you.
